Participants will explore major anatomical structures\, including muscles\, bones\, nerves\, and organs\, in a controlled and respectful environment. Through guided examination and palpation\, attendees will enhance their knowledge of the human body’s spatial relationships and functional anatomy\, directly relating this to massage therapy practice. \n\n\n\nStudents will develop practical skills in handling and examining cadaveric material with gloves and aprons\, ensuring safety and respect for the donors. The course will emphasize the clinical correlations between anatomical structures and massage therapy techniques\, helping students recognize anatomical variations\, multi-layered tissues\, and their implications for therapeutic practice. Additionally\, students will engage in discussions on the ethical considerations of using cadaveric specimens\, fostering a deeper appreciation and respect for the individuals who have donated their bodies for educational purposes. \n\n\n\nBy the end of this course\, participants will have enhanced their anatomical knowledge\, improved their palpation skills\, and developed a greater awareness of the ethical dimensions of their practice\, ultimately contributing to more effective and informed massage therapy treatments. \n\n\n\nMaterials Required and Provided by ASMMW: Disposable gloves and aprons. Medical Massage Techniques It is impossible to successfully practice Medical Massage without masterminding Medical Massage techniques. Our hands-on Medical Massage Basics class allows therapists to optimize their technical performance during the clinical application of massage therapy. Some techniques discussed during the class can be used as part of full-body massage sessions to build up a successful preventive massage therapy practice. \nDay 2. Medical Massage Protocol for Pectoralis Major and Minor Muscle Syndromes SOMI is offering a new hands-on training course evaluating and treating pectoral muscles’ tension following trauma\, overload\, or reflex zone formation. We also discuss anatomy\, function\, and pathology of the region. The final part of the discussion is the strategic role both muscles play in the normal functioning of the brachial plexus and its decompression using MM protocol. \nDay 3. Medical Massage Protocols for Iliopsoas Muscle Syndrome Aside from triggering lower back pain and various visceral dysfunctions in the abdominal cavity\, the tension in the Iliopsoas Muscle is one of the leading causes of anterior thigh\, knee\, and leg pain due to the compression of the femoral and/or obturator nerves in the femoral canal. SOMI is offering a new hands-on training course evaluating and treating Iliopsoas Muscle tension.
