SUMMARY:Reflexology
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the ancient healing therapy known as Reflexology! In this course\, the student will be educated on how reflexology can reduce pain\, improve circulation\, provide a sense of balance and relaxation through specific points mapped out on the feet and hands. This course is aimed at anyone who wishes to gain a deep understanding of Reflexology and how to use it to ease pain and imbalances throughout the body. In other words\, it is a multifaceted enemy. Clinical success depends on the therapist’s ability to correctly identify and target the initial triggers\, rather than secondary syndromes\, which are often the most prominent.  \n\n\n\nDuring this course\, we will cover the anatomy and pathology of the lumbar area\, as well as the necessary evaluation and testing skills to develop a correct treatment strategy for tension in the Lumbar Erectors\, the Quadratus Lumborum muscle\, and rotators.   \n\n\n\nDay 2: Medical Massage Protocol for Osteoarthritis Hands-On Training Course \n\n\n\nThis class covers Osteoarthritis (OA) and the chain of pathological events that trigger OA. We will first discuss how to evaluate the soft tissues and joints affected by OA. Afterward\, we will showcase the hands-on application of a Medical Massage protocol used to decompress any affected joints and diminish or stop the destructive processes within the cartilage and subchondral bone. During class\, we will use knee OA as a clinical example. \n\n\n\nDay 3: Soft Tissue Trauma: Leg Compartment Syndrome and Plantar Fasciitis \n\n\n\nDuring the first part of the class\, we will teach therapists how to ‘read’ large hematomas to accelerate tissue recovery and prevent the side effects of soft tissue trauma\, including fascial adhesions and muscle shortening. \n\n\n\nIn the second part of the class\, we will cover evaluation and Medical Massage protocols for all Leg Compartment Syndromes\, and we will conclude the training with hands-on training in a Medical Massage protocol for Plantar Fasciitis. \n\n\n\nAbout the presenter: Dr. Ross Turchaninov  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProfessional Reviews of SOMI’s publications by medical and massage communities: Medical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » Book Reviews  \n\n\n\nWhat is Medical Massage? Medical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » What IS medical massage?  \n\n\n\nAbout SOMI’s Medical Massage Certification Program: Medical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » Medical Massage Certification Program  \n\n\n\nOur former students (CMMPs) who successfully graduated SOMI’s Program talk about their educational experiences and clinical successes: SOMI TESTIMONIALS – YouTube \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor therapists new to SOMI\, please visit the Journal of Massage Science to get and in-depth understanding the valuable professional information we offer during our training.  \n\n\n\nTo receive information from SOMI\, please register under FREE REGISTRATION: Medical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » FREE REGISTRATION \n\n\n\nIf you would like to speak to someone in the office\, please call (602) 561-9532\, or email aesculapr@hotmail.com  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nClick Here

Hands-On Training Course \n\n\n\n          Studying and practicing medical massage without a firm scientific understanding of Basic Medical Massage techniques and their clinical application is impossible.  \n\n\n\n          We will cover the science behind clinical variations of Medical Massage techniques developed by the Western School of MT. Some of the presented techniques can be used during full-body massage sessions to build a successful preventive massage therapy practice.  \n\n\n\nDay 2: Medical Massage Protocol for Anterior Scalene Muscle Syndrome/Thoracic Outlet Hands-On Training Course \n\n\n\n          The Anterior Scalene Muscle Syndrome (ASMS) is nicknamed the “Silent Killer” in somatic medicine. In clinical reality\, ASMS can quietly trigger everything from Headaches to Middle Back Pain and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. To isolate and quickly decompress the ASM means controlling the many pathological conditions in the upper body.   \n\n\n\n          During this course\, we will discuss the unique pathology of ASMS\, its evaluation\, identification\, and an effective treatment protocol that decisively eliminates anterior neck tension and decompresses the brachial plexus.  \n\n\n\nDay 3: Medical Massage Protocol for Iliopsoas Muscle Syndrome Hands-On Training Course \n\n\n\n          Aside from causing lower back pain and various visceral dysfunctions in the abdominal cavity\, the tension in the Iliopsoas Muscle is a significant contributor to anterior thigh\, knee\, and leg pain. This pain is due to compression of the femoral and/or obturator nerves in the femoral and obturator canals. SOMI is proud to offer a new hands-on class on evaluating and treating tension in the Iliopsoas Muscle. \n\n\n\n          A correctly formulated treatment protocol is not only effective but also safe\, focusing on correcting the misconceptions about iliopsoas muscle work through the abdominal cavity. Many educators advocate this unfortunate practice. We will equip you with the knowledge and skills to avoid unnecessary trauma to the abdominal organs while delivering stable clinical results\, ensuring the safety and confidence of both you and your patients. \n\n\n\nAbout presenter: Dr. Ross Turchaninov  \n\n\n\nProfessional Reviews of SOMI’s publications by medical and massage communities: Medical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » Book Reviews  \n\n\n\nWhat is Medical Massage? Medical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » What IS medical massage?  \n\n\n\nAbout SOMI’s Medical Massage Certification Program: Medical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » Medical Massage Certification Program  \n\n\n\nOur former students (CMMPs) who successfully graduated SOMI’s Program talk about their educational experiences and clinical successes: SOMI TESTIMONIALS – YouTube \n\n\n\nFor therapists new to SOMI\, please visit the Journal of Massage Science to get and in-depth understanding the valuable professional information we offer during our training.  \n\n\n\nTo receive information from SOMI\, please register under FREE REGISTRATION: Medical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » FREE REGISTRATION \n\n\n\nIf you would like to speak to someone in the office\, please call (602) 561-9532\, or email aesculapr@hotmail.com  \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you soon and advancing your practice together! \n\n\n\nMedical Massage Courses & Certification | Science of Massage Institute » Peoria\, AZ February 7-9\, 2026

SUMMARY:Understanding & Transforming Chronic Pain by Arnold Askew
DESCRIPTION:Retraining Neural-Circuits & Neuromuscular Habits14 CE Hours + Approved by NCBTMB \n\n\n\nUnderstanding & Transforming Chronic Pain: \n\n\n\nAn In-depth Introduction to the Theory and Techniques of Somatic Therapy \n\n\n\nThis class will review the latest neuroscience the brain plays in the perception and persistence of pain. This knowledge will quickly help us see the difference between “neuroplastic” and structurally caused pain. Understanding this is essential for consistent and successful treatment. First\, we’ll review techniques to address the neuro-circuitry linked to chronic pain. Then we’ll use somatic education to change inefficient patterns of dysfunction. Therapeutically we’ll use “awareness-based touch and movement” to awaken proprioceptive centers and stimulate healthier neurological activity. A variety of injuries\, pathologies and conditions will be discussed to make the information relevant for actual practice. \n\n\n\nThough all of this may sound overwhelming\, it comes together with simple techniques that are easy to apply and are gentle on the therapist. The work is relationship-based\, so we will look at how to bring our clients into a healthier relationship with their own healing. And this process starts with us. We will use basic developmental movements to start our own process of self-exploration.    With this “self-knowledge” our goal will be to help our clients become more autonomous and involved in whatever conditions may be a part of their lives. \n\n\n\nPlease wear clothing that allows unrestricted movement\, and bring a mat or blanket for movement explorations on the floor. \n\n\n\n$350 Somatic Therapy and CE Courses by Arnold Askew \n\n\n\nClass objectives: \n\n\n\n1) Develop an understanding of the causes and currentapproach for the treatment of chronic pain. Specifically\, review the recentresearch into pain caused by neuroplastic changes and/or somatic deficiencies. \n\n\n\n2) Develop strategies to effectively treat such conditions. Focus to be ondeveloping awareness-based touch and movement to awaken proprioceptivecenters and stimulate new neurological activity. \n\n\n\n3) Learn to integrate newtheories and techniques into current massage or other practices. \n\n\n\nClass Participants comments and feedback \n\n\n\n“I really enjoyed Arnold’s method of teaching\, great sense of humor\, very intuitive\, would takehis class anytime” D. Anson“The course was so helpful to push me into a deeper understanding of how I\, as a practitioner\,can facilitate healing efficiency\, awareness\, and better movement in my clients. Being able toexperience and feel the profound changes with subtle work will add much more dimension to mywork as a Rolfer.” P. Reaves“Really excited about this information\, wish general public could be educated about this.” V.Cook“Thank you for your wonderful presentation. I appreciated your willingness to “tell it like it is”\,even if it may not fit so clearly into the traditional confines of our field. I feel like you have a wellthought out\, clearly articulated and focused workshop. And I have both something I can takewith me and apply now and a path for continuing my inquiry.” T. Wilson“Before I met Arnold I was in constant pain. He showed me how to understand the patterns I hadgotten into.
