What a month it has been at the Arizona School of Medical Massage & Wellness!
August was exciting, busy, and full of growth. We welcomed not one, but TWO new classes of future massage therapists, and both programs were completely SOLD OUT.
There is something special about the first day of a new class. Students walk through our doors with different backgrounds, different goals, and different reasons for choosing massage therapy. Over the next approximately nine months, they will learn anatomy, massage techniques, assessment, clinical reasoning, special populations, medical massage concepts, business skills, and much more as they prepare for a new career.
Watching two new groups begin that journey within days of each other was an exciting milestone for our school.
And we’re not slowing down yet!
September 1 Starts TONIGHT!
Tonight, September 1, we welcome another new group of future massage therapists as our evening Medical Massage & Wellness Program officially begins.
After two sold-out programs started in August, it is exciting to welcome yet another class through our doors.
We love seeing so many people choosing to take the next step toward a career in massage therapy and discovering just how diverse this profession can be.
With tonight’s class officially getting underway, we’re now turning our attention to our next enrollment opportunity: November 17, 2026.
But first, August included another incredible experience.
Celebrating Our Profession at the AMTA National Convention
August also gave us the opportunity to attend the AMTA National Convention, where massage therapists, educators, industry professionals, vendors, and leaders from across the country came together to learn and connect.
One of the most amazing things was seeing Licensed Massage Therapists from across the United States gathered in one place with a shared commitment to learning and advancing the profession.
There were opportunities for continuing education, discovering new techniques and products, learning about developments within massage therapy, exchanging ideas, and connecting with colleagues from around the country.
Experiences like this are a great reminder that massage therapy is much bigger than one classroom, one treatment room, or one state. There is an entire professional community of massage therapists who continue learning throughout their careers.
At ASMMW, we believe staying engaged with the massage therapy profession and continuing to learn is an important part of being an educator. The ideas, education, professional relationships, and conversations that come from events like national conventions help us stay connected to what is happening throughout our industry.
We came home inspired and excited about the future of massage therapy and about welcoming the next generation of massage therapists into the profession.
More Than Relaxation Massage
At the Arizona School of Medical Massage & Wellness, students build a strong foundation in massage therapy while also learning to think beyond simply performing a routine.
Our 700-Hour Hybrid Medical Massage & Wellness Program emphasizes hands-on education, anatomy, assessment, clinical reasoning, pathology, special populations, medical massage concepts, and learning how to adapt massage to the individual client.
As students progress through the program, we encourage them to start asking questions:
Why is this client experiencing pain or dysfunction?
What tissues or structures may be involved?
Are there contraindications or precautions?
How should I safely modify my massage approach for this particular person?
That clinical reasoning mindset develops throughout the program as students progress from foundational massage skills into increasingly advanced hands-on and clinical experiences.
Our goal is to prepare graduates not only to perform massage, but to enter the profession with confidence, critical-thinking skills, professionalism, and a desire to continue learning throughout their careers.
